DENNO - KEEPING IT REAL

Master One Recording artiste Denno has his sights fixed on taking his career up another notch.
The artiste is busy “working the rounds” as he showcases his talent. His hit single seem to b gaining new life everyday as it is now sitting in the No 11 spot on the Hype TV Top 20 Singles Chart. The video, released a few weeks ago is also helping to propel the song’s popularity as it has also found its way on various video charts.
Denno could not be happier about the direction his career is going, he is also full of praise for the strong support given by his management company Master One Production.
Even while he is enjoying success with Can’t Stop Dah Yute Yah the singing is now getting ready to unleash some new materials on the market. So far he has recorded over six new recordings including Straight for DJ Raff; My Mother for DK Tropical; Youths Moving Cold for Dalton Leeth, Bun Dem for Stampede Music; Dem Waah Kill Me, for Lion House Production and Tek Me Life for Frenz For Real Productions.
From all indications Tek Me Life could very well be another big one for Denno as it has been receiving a lot of air play and the artistes says he has been getting a lot of positive feedbacks from those who listened to the track.
Performance wise Denno is maintaining a strong presence on the stage show circuit. He has been one some of the biggest events and as the summer approaches the artistes says “Denno can pop up at you anytime!”
With dancehall taking a lot of hits for its negative message, Denno says he is all about facts, “being realistic and coming with materials for the young and the old, Christian and non Christian, my music fits in anywhere,” he said.
“My writing and the smooth sound of my vocals, plus my catchy lyrics will always be a vibrant force in reggae and dancehall music I am just keeping it real straight,” promised the fast rising singer.
Denno’s message to fellow artiste is simple, “a love me say, not war, a peace me say and good music also, man and man use to have lyrical battles without a fist being thrown, we need back some of those days to preserve our fans, our stage shows and dances but most of all our music, dem caah stop dah yute yah. We all need to have a heart of love where ever we go and in everything we do.”

I-OCTANE WILL NOT BE PERFORMING AT THE SIERRA NEVADA WORLD MUSIC FESTIVAL ON JUNE 19TH

New York, N.Y - May 31, 2011- This serves to advise the public that despite popular opinion and present promotions, I-Octane will not be performing at the Sierra Nevada World Music Festival on June 19th. Though I-Octane had endorsed the show at some point, he was not aware of any negotiations for him to perform as he had not received any contract or deposit. Unknown to the artiste, negotiations had indeed been underway and a contract had been signed and a deposit received, but all this was done by a third party who does not represent I-Octane. I-Octane's team did not become aware of these negotiations until last week. This third party has also negotiated for another music festival of which the artiste has no knowledge. As soon as I-Octane's team was made aware of the situation, they contacted the promoter of the Sierra Nevada World Music Festival to try and rectify the situation. Unfortunately, they were unable to reach a mutually beneficial arrangement, and as a result, the artiste will not be a part of this year's staging of the event. I-Octane wishes to inform all his fans that he has several more performances for the summer and he hopes to see them there. He would also like to advise promoters to beware of unscrupulous parties claiming to represent artistes.

I-Octane will travel to St. Croix and St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, June 3rd and 4th to deliver two more energetic and unforgettable performances.

While completing his 'My Life' tour, the hardworking singjay continues to dedicate much of his time to developing his craft and putting out music that will inspire, educate, and encourage his fans.

VYBZ KARTEL COMPARE HIMSELF TO MARCUS GARVEY

A release from Adidja Palmer via Riddimstream was sent out last night. In it, he compares himself to Marcus Garvey and says that he has deliberately made himself into an attention-seeking, porn-producing, and bleaching out face to "trick Babylon". He said that once he saw how powerful he had become, he realized that he was on a path that mirrored the lives of Marley, Tosh and Miller who all died young in what he calls "unique, somewhat mysterious circumstances". Vybz Kartel also said that he plans to release a book about his life he wants to release the book on the birthday of his Imperial Majesty, Haile Selassie on July 23rd.

The statement begins: "Many of you have heard or seen the recent accusations made by my former associates in the past few weeks. I don’t know why all of these individuals, think the most appropriate action to take after a philosophical difference occurs is to go to the press and attack me."

I can only say that I am reminded of Bob Marley’s admonishments when he said man is so unjust, you don’t know who to trust…your best friend can turn out to be your worst enemy…I shall say no more, other than who the cap fit, mek them wear it. I am issuing this statement because I think these accusations are due to a breach of confidentiality as certain individuals got wind of my upcoming projects and initiatives and they know they can’t stop me without resorting to underhanded tactics.

See Jamaica, Vybz Kartel has been carrying a secret for a very long time and I think it is time that I reveal it before persons try to derail the projects that I have put together by continuing to make false reports about me in their attempt to have me muzzled.two years ago, I had an epiphany whilst on stage. I saw thousands of people screaming for Kartel, jumping up and down, listening to ever word that I uttered on stage, it was like the people were eating out of the palm of my hands. At that moment, something strange came over me, as I heard the people screaming for more, I suddenly realized that my calling was to be more than a Deejay.

I realized that the people were not eating out my hands but they wanted to hear Kartel speak because finally somebody was telling their story in a profound no holds barred manner. Whether I was addressing sexuality, poverty, police brutality, in justice, the trials and tribulations of the ghetto I was finally giving ghetto people a voice – a big voice like society never heard before.

I know I am not the first that has ever attempted to do this. Because when I researched I saw that Marcus, Sam Sharpe, Paul Bogle all spoke directly to the powers that be on behalf of the people but were ostracized and in some cases killed. Later, Marley, Tosh, Jacob Miller did the same thing and all died young under unique somewhat mysterious circumstances. I have seen what they have done to ancient Rastamen, People’s Telecom, the Marcus Garvey Political Party and other entities that attacked Babylon head on.
I did not want the same fate to reach me at the time, I did not want them to muzzle me also, so I took a decision that I felt I had to, I had to trick Babylon. I realized if I kept doing outrageous and outlandish stuff, they would write me off as just an attention seeking artiste and not realize that since July 26, 2009 behind closed doors I have been writing my book and setting up my GEL (Gaza Education and Literacy) program. So they put the spotlight on me, not knowing that they were actually putting the spotlight on themselves because Vybz Kartel is not about braces, bleaching and hairstyles but I am about elevating the cause of Ghetto people.

Please understand Jamaica sometimes you have to trick Babylon with confusion. If I revealed my intentions two years ago, do you think the people that control the media would report everything I do? Babylon, you have been tricked. For 500 years, the system has been using reverse psychology to trick my people, I have now used reverse psychology to trick them Let’s see societal hypocrisy for what it is. Now that my book is going to be released, now that most of my songs will have a more cultural overtone as i have already taken the decision to stop deejaying gun lyrics, now that I am going to be providing educational opportunities for young people, will you be giving me the same attention?

In so far as business is concerned, I don’t agree that rum and a night club is an Empire. The Portmore Global Empire has been in the works for some time with proper infrastructure currently being put in place. I had anticipated certain moves and I have been in consultation with Attorneys in Pembroke Pines, Florida about proper branding, contracts, representation and protecting my legal rights globally. The team I have been working with are all degreed in the areas of Finance, Marketing, Mass Communications and have the expertise that I will need – it is funny when I hear "nobody can tell Kartel anything" when I have trained consultants who have aided me in planning my future projects. I have not finalized any decisions as yet but I have invested considerable resources to take my business endeavours to another level, so again, like Bob Marley said, half the story has never been told.

Now I know a lot of my fans are probably surprised but understand this, I feel called by a power greater than me. Black people have been suffering too long, we have been in poverty too long, we have been brutalized too long and Vybz Kartel is now advising the world that I will use the spotlight that you have put on me to highlight their cause. I am not naïve and I know based on recent interviews on TV that my life and freedom is more in danger than ever before because I have no intention of easing up on the system or their agents. However, I am at peace with this decision. The Gaza ladies, you are still my babies, so don’t worry, the black race must procreate so I will giving you more “Dumpa Truck” to drive in, you can still “Get Wild” and you will still ride your “10 speed bicycle” in “Slow Motion.” I will never stop deejaying for you. The “thugs,” you all built Kartel, so I will never alienate you but you may be getting some new messages from me.

It is unfortunate that I have been forced to prematurely make this statement as my book was slated to be launched on July 23, 2012 – His Imperial Majesty’s Earthstrong, my GEL program was for the September 2011-2012 academic year but the forces against me are rising on TV and in the newspaper so after consultation with the few trusted advisers I have left, I decided to make this release so that if they take my life or my freedom, the projects will continue. Keep in mind that the greatest black man that ever lived, Marcus Garvey, was betrayed by trusted individuals and endured continuous character assassination, so I guess I am in good company. We nah stop say Gaza4Life, we just upgrading the message

"KARTEL DOESN'T EVEN HAVE A KEY FOR THE BUILDING" - TODD

The fallout from the split between businessman Corey Todd and deejay Vybz Kartel continued to mushroom yesterday as Todd appeared on the popular programme, Onstage on CVM. He said that the popular nightclub The Building is now closed because of threats made against his life and that there will be no events there in the foreseeable future.

"I don't want him coming to my funeral and crying like me and him a friend, because we're not," Todd told TV host Winford Williams last night.

Todd also said that no other events will be held in the Building because neither he nor Kartel's name is on the lease and any move to enter the Building would constitute 'breaking and entering'.

"Kartel doesn't even have a key for the Building," Todd said. The weekly Girls Night Out party was not held last night in the nightclub and several disappointed patrons were turned away from its doors.

He outlined a disturbing trend in Kartel's behaviour after the Street Vybz company bought the S-Class benz for Kartel. He made the remarks during a recent IRIE FM interview.

"He wants his music only to play in the club, he wants to beat up selectors...he made remarks that I don't say Gaza anymore...it just got to the point of being ridiculous...he is a real devious and greedy person and he has bad intentions, I will move on with my life and wish him the best," he said.

Todd will likely lose millions of dollars as a result of his decision.

“I will lose millions, tons of money but I am not motivated by money. Money does not define me. I built this and I will build it again,” Todd said. “I don’t know this new Vybz Kartel; I haven’t known him for quite a while. Enough is enough. "

In the meantime, Vybz Kartel has insisted that he will be performing at the Building this Sunday as part of his scheduled satellite hook up performance for this year's Best of the Best concert in Miami, Florida.

'First and foremost, people can come out to the building on Sunday and expect a brilliant performance by Vybz Kartel," Kartel told IRIE yesterday evening.

As it relates to the allegations of threats made against Todd's life, he said:

"That is now a legal matter and I will rest that in the hands of my lawyers, because that sounds very defaming to my character and very slanderous. I guess he is making a mountain out of a mole hill, but you know, that everything that happens in Vybz Kartel's life, good or bad, we just take it with a smile," he said in a radio interview yesterday.

MAVADO OFFERED BAIL

ENTERTAINER David ‘Mavado’ Brooks was today offered station bail after being formally charged over a weekend skirmish at a St Ann nightclub.

He is booked to appear in court on June 9.

Mavado, who was arrested with nine members of his entourage, was charged with malicious destruction of property over the incident which happened at the Jamaica Jamaica club Saturday night.

His manager, Julian Griffiths Jones, was charged with assault.

The altercation was said to have been over payment due to Mavado for performing at the club.

"We will be there for him when he goes to court. It is apparent that it seems to be a misunderstanding where Mavado and Griffiths Jones is concerned. I'm sure it will be resolved," attorney Chris Tavares-Finson told the Observer.

COREY TODD CALLS IT QUITS WITH VYBZ KARTEL...TODD THREATENED

American businessman Corey Todd has chosen to immediately dissolve his business partnership with Adidja Palmer a.k.a Vybz Kartel in the wake of alleged threats made against Todd's life.

"I cannot be associated with or do business with someone I don't trust. Kartel and I haven't seen eye to eye in a while, and late last week, after a disagreement, he threatened me on the phone because I "refused to tek chat". I don't take kindly to threats against me and my family, and I have contacted my lawyers and the relevant authorities to deal with this issue immediately," Todd said.

"I am my own man, I have never worked for Vybz Kartel, I helped to build his career, but I was never about the division in music, or his need to pigeonhole everything as Gaza or not Gaza. I don't understand
the creative direction he's moving in with regards to his image or his music. I don't know this new Vybz Kartel, I haven't known him for quite a while. Enough is enough. I wish him the best with his career," Todd said.

Todd and Palmer started the Unlimited Daggering company three years ago to manufacture, market and distribute Street Vybz Rum. The company also employs several people at a St. Andrew-based factory. The two also operate the Building nightclub in New Kingston.

Todd sought to reassure his workers that he would find employment for them in his other business ventures if they are displaced.

'I am not keeping any events at the Building nightclub for the foreseeable future, I am not doing anymore business with Vybz Kartel. However, I will be doing another product soon, so I am moving forward and I hope to work with other artistes to help build their careers as well," he said.

KONSHENS ENJOYS SHOOTING VIDEO FOR FORWARD

From the busy business district of New Kingston to the hustle and bustle of the
Downtown Kingston arcade, up to the lofty heights of Long Mountain, deejay
Konshens took to the streets with his

video crew to shoot footage for the single
Forward.

The Cash Flow-produced song, which has been enjoying heavy rotation on radio,
has made its way onto various charts, and has now become one of the most
in-demand tunes in the dancehall. Interestingly, the term ‘forward’ has taken on
new life and energy, in direct response to the impact of the song.

According to Konshens, “Everybody keeps asking me when I am going to do the
video, so I just assembled a team and hit the road. It was a great shoot. The
video director had some crazy ideas and we brought them to life … so now we are
just moving Forward.”

His face lit up as he recalled the vibe as the team travelled along Mannings
Hill Road and then went into the Arcade, where they were welcomed … not mobbed.

“It was just a connection; it was a great people thing and the fellowship with
the ordinary man in the street was unmatched,” said the deejay who has been
emphasizing the importance of staying true to his roots.

In addition to Forward, Konshens has scored big with recent songs such as
Pretty Devil, Do Di Ting, Bounce Like A Ball, Rasta Imposter,This Means
Money, Good Girl Gone Bad (w/Tarrus Riley), Realest Ting and his breakout single,
Winner.

The video for Forward was directed by Jay Fresh.

RISING SUPERSTAR I-OCTANE RUBBISHES CLAIMS OF HAIR EXTENSIONS.

Rising superstar I-Octane has categorically denied ever putting extensions in his hair in the wake of statements made by fellow entertainer on Thursday.

"I can't control what another artiste chooses to say," I-Octane stated. "But I've been growing my locks for several years now and the people at Jus Natural in Portmore can vouch for that."

When prodded to respond about how he feels about the allegation, I-Octane made things very clear. "In this industry you come to expect that people will do and say anything. Is music mi a deal with and I won't allow anyone to shift my focus from that. As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't make sense for me to spend a lot of time thinking or even talking about this issue. Jah teach me that you empower what you focus on, and as mi seh, music is my focus. Nobody can draw me out or try to involve me inna mix up. Anyone who has been following my career can look at me through the years and see that my locks grow natural. Its not an overnight thing. As a matter of fact, people a suffer all over the world. Mek wi focus on dem type a tings."

In response to questions as to whether he would respond in a song, the singjay laughed. "No sah! Mi nuh haffi do nuttn. Memba dat in mi song mi seh Touch not the Lord's anointed. Mi nuh haffi do a ting."

The artiste is in Orlando, Fla. preparing for a show on Friday (May 13th). He will then be heading to England next week for two shows, one in Birmingham on Friday, May 20th and on Sunday, May 22nd in London, England. He is also one of the headliners for Best of The Best in Miami on Sunday, May 29th.

KONSHENS THRILLS GUYANA

“It was total violation of my body and my innocent eyes,” Konshens said, trying hard – and failing miserably – to let his facial expression match his words. Unable to hold it back any longer, the laughter erupted and shook his whole body.

The deejay was describing the aftermath of his performance on Easter Monday for the people of Guyana, a land where reggae, dancehall and Konshens have the ability to bring out the best in music lovers. Konshens, in recognition of the huge and ever growing fan base he has secured there, took his ‘A’ game to Guyana and connected in a major way.
The concert, entitled Singers’ Anniversary, was held at the Guyana National Stadium and showcased the talents of dancehall artistes Lady Saw, Cham, Spice, Jah Vinci, Popcaan and Konshens. Thousands of hungry fans turned up to the event, which saw all the artistes representing well and flying the Jamaica flag high.
Konshens, whose single Gal Dem Talk has been one of the biggest tunes in Guyana
for over a year, got full marks for showing his appreciation for the love that Guyana has given him. When he touched the stage, that was the first song he
unleashed and the frenzy which it triggered was maintained throughout his entire set.
There was no holding back as Konshens “tun up di turbo” and reeled off Pretty Devil, Winner, Do Di Ting, Bounce Like A Ball, Rasta Imposter, This Means Money, Good Girl Gone Bad, Realest Ting and the most recent single to hit Guyana, Forward. The artiste and his fans were in sync and the more he gave, the better it was received and given back to him tenfold.
The vibes of the fans was unmatched. As Konshens himself described it, with a little awe, “Blank a bus … torches … people a sing … girl a bawl .. it was just incredible.”
And he entertained, calling up a girl from the audience to sing with him, after which he presented her with his T-shirt. She became the envy of every girl inside the National Stadium, and by the smug expression on her face, it was obvious that she knew it. Then Konshens called up yet another female, and this time he gave her something even more personal – his sweat-drenched merino. The young lady clutched it tightly and played ‘stuckie’ right there on the stage. She was so stunned that she just couldn’t move.
The artiste closed his set with Realest Medz, which is another anthem in Guyana
and after an encore exited the stage, leaving his fans still wanting more. However, Konshens gave his fans a chance to get up close and personal by willingly signing autographs and posing for pictures.
“I will definitely be back,” he promised, as they demanded to know when will be
his next performance in Guyana.

Beyoncé Surprises Harlem Students with Dance Workout

It was an otherwise uneventful Tuesday at P.S. 161 middle school in Harlem when Beyoncé stormed through the door and surprised students by teaching them the moves from her “Move Your Body” video. As part of the “Let’s Move! Flash Workout” campaign to help curb childhood obesity, the blonde superstar appeared in the gym much to the delight of her young fans, who danced alongside her and took photos.

While Bey was in Harlem, First Lady Michelle Obama was in Washington, D.C., learning how to do The Dougie, Running Man, and Cha Cha with students. She only had good things to say about the “Run the World” singer and their partnership to promote exercise.

“Beyoncé is one of my favorite performers on the planet. And when she agreed to remake her video and do this ‘Let’s Move’ flash workout, I was so excited, because this is what we’ve been talking about—that exercise and moving can be fun,” said Mrs. Obama. “It’s about dancing, it’s about moving.”
