sassa step competition heating up
The contest to make an appearance in Mr. Vegas’ Sassa Step video is heating up with almost 2,000 votes tallied between five finalists culled from hundreds of videos submitted by dancehall aficionadas all
across the globe.
At this point, the competition is being led by an ultra-creative video by Ruby Red out of Taiwan leads with 638 votes while Skatty Natty from London is a close second with 564 votes. Ruby Red’s video flirts with disqualification because it is four minutes long, a time span she uses creatively doing the Sassa Step in the airport, on bikes, in a gym, and she even does an acrobatic upside
down version in front of what looks like a monument in Taiwan. Ruby Red also gets literal in the video by doing the move on a set of steps, and then pushes the envelope further by doing it on a pedestrian crossing. Skatty Natty from London appears to the best technically sound Sassa Stepper showing off her dainty moves for the camera in her backyard, but perhaps loses creativity points because she is limited
to a narrow area with an old bicycle in the background. Nevertheless her addition of some old Bogle moves to her Sassa Step moves boost her chances of winning.
The other finalists are Shy N from Japan who does his thing on a sidewalk which runs parallel to a wall that explodes with bright graffiti and he gets great style points by adding break-dancing movements and some creative work with a parking meter. Mez from New York appears to have the moves down pat but he is hurt a bit by the fact that he uses a stationary camera that only captures his moves below the waist. Takuya from Japan also makes a decent video with some enthusiastic moves but is still mired in the bottom of the voting tallying only 34 votes.
Two months ago, Mr. Vegas announced a contest geared towards dancers who could compete for a spot in his new Sassa Step video through video submissions. Hundreds of videos were received and the final list was winnowed down to five dancers. Mr. Vegas will foot the travel expenses of the winner of the contest to come to Jamaica for the video shoot. The contest has been extended by three weeks to allow online dancehall fans to vote for their favourites. The Sassa Step dance was originally created by the Ravers Clavers crew from Nannyville.

Hey would you mind stating which blog platform you're working with? I'm
ReplyDeleteplanning to start my own blog soon but I'm having a tough time making a decision between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your design seems different then most blogs and I'm looking for something completely unique.
