DON'T TALK TO THE PRESS, 'DUDUS' INSTRUCTS LAWYERS

NEW YORK, USA — Lawyers representing accused Jamaican drug and arms dealer Christopher 'Dudus' Coke have been instructed by him not to discuss the case with reporters or anyone else not connected with the matter.

"We have to honour the wishes of the client," an aide with the law firm Frank Dottotado told the Observer.

Efforts by the Observer to get a comment from Dottotado were unsuccessful as he did not respond to messages left with his office.

Another attorney involved in the case, Florida-based Steven Rosen, also failed to respond to requests for comments on the instructions.

Coke, who has been in custody here since June last year after waiving his right to an extradition hearing in Jamaica, is known to shun the limelight.

He is scheduled to make another appearance in Court today for a pre-trial conference between prosecutors and his defence team.

Prosecutors are expected to hand over more discovery materials to the defence, while there is also the likelihood of a trial date being set by Judge Robert P Patterson.
