QUEEN IFRICA TAKES INTERNATIONAL NIGHTS AT REGGAE SUMFEST!
It appears as though there is nothing stopping the ‘Fyah Muma’, Queen Ifrica now, as she continues to blaze a fiery trail with her captivating and peppery performances, the latest being Reggae Sumfest’s International Night 1, staged on Friday, July 24, in Catherine Hall, Montego Bay.
Reports in a local newspaper described Queen Ifrica’s performance as ‘one that stunned thousands of patrons with one of the better performances the night produced’ as she ‘served her audience a course of musical satisfaction for a good half-an-hour.’
On a night when Queen Ifrica shared the stage with many local talents, and top international acts like R&B singer Jazmine Sullivan, Keri Hilson and Ne-yo, she still managed to give an outstanding performance, as she had the audience fully engaged with some of her hottest singles, among them, Brown Skin, Welcome to Montego Bay (the place of her birth), I Am Ready To Go and Daddy. Ifrica also did a tribute for the late ‘King of Pop’, Michael Jackson, when she did an excellent cover of Man in the Mirror.
And for Reggae Sumfest, International Night 2, that featured international acts like Nas, Toni Braxton and Tito Jackson, brother of the late pop icon, reports in the local media had the likes of Damian ‘Junior Gong’ Marley and Tarrus Riley (local acts) as the more memorable performances on that night.
Indeed, when official reports of both International Nights are compared, it is clear that all will agree, ‘long live the Queen’, as Queen Ifrica would have ruled right across the board.
In the meantime, Queen Ifrica still continues to maintain a heavy presence on both local and international charts, as locally, her song Far Away is sitting comfortably in the #2 position on the Top 20 Reggae Charts, while Lioness on the Rise is currently in the #6 position on the same chart. And again on the Hype TV Top Singles Chart, Queen Ifrica makes her prowess felt, as she is Far Away in the #2 spot, while Lioness on the Rise controls the #12 position.
Internationally, on the South Florida Top 25 Reggae Singles chart, Lioness on the Rise is currently in the #6 position, while Far Away moves up two places to the #14 spot. While on the New York Top 30 Reggae Charts, Lioness on the Rise is in the #5 position, and Far Away at #19.
