I-Octane made successful Sting appearance

Cultural singer I-Octane passed the acid test by totally winning over the Sting crowd at the Jamworld Entertainment Centre on Boxing Day.
This was definitely not his first Sting performance but it is the one that everyone is talking about. I-Octane faced the crowd at a time when they would have been hungry for the anticipated clash, yet he managed to make a good impression even having them at times engaged in a sing-a-long to some of his popular songs.
Among the songs he scored big with were Stab Vampire Poverty, Run Yet, None A Dem Nuh Frighten Wi and his big hit Different Page.
When I-Octane called on Spragga Benz on stage to their combination single Hurt Mi the whole place erupted as the two gave an highly charged performance.
With Sting now behind him the singer is now focused on the video for Hurt Mi which will take place at Arrows Studio on Wednesday (January 7) under the direction of Junior Arrows and Michael Cushnie.

Kip Rich memorable at Sting

If there was one artiste who was ready for Sting, it was Kip Rich. Known for his lyrical prowess, this song-writer/deejay clearly burned the midnight oil writing an arsenal of new lyrics designed to slay his attackers.
But, while Kippo was in fine form, alas! he was unmatched. It was a case of ‘none willing to test’, as despite the deejay’s repeated calls for his detractors to take the stage, not even one man ventured. Getting increasingly bolder as his performance continued, Kip Rich called names and dismissed each potential clash victim with impunity and without apology. And although they were all in the house, they all remained silent, as they must have seethed under such a scathing attack.
But Kip Rich was on a roll this season; it was on Christmas Day that he delivered another of his much-talked-about performances at the Magnum GT Taylor Christmas Extravaganza held in St Elizabeth. Famous for his rich sense of humor this dancehall story-teller has combined his much-sought-after hit-making writing skills with his own unique delivery to carve out a niche for himself. His very popular Telephone Ting and The Letter. Are just two examples of his unending creativity.
The St Catherine born Marlon Plunkett aka Kip Rich gained his command of verse early. In school, writing poems was one of his favorite things to do so songwriting came with ease.
Kip Rich first major hit came in 1999 with the chart topper Leggo di Bwoy and continued with songs like Imagine This and Bad Man No Switch.
But it wasn’t until he linked up with Big Yard Family that Kip Rich had his greatest success with his number one single Telephone Ting and the follow up The Letter.
As he looks toward 2009 the artiste is now focused on getting some new materials out there and topping his 2008 performance.
