‘Not since Bob Marley have I seen an artiste who cares as much about his audience,’ says Warrior King’s manager

Kingston, JAMAICA,:- One of the secrets to a successful career in show business is the

degree of care and respect that the artiste shows for the main body of people who can make or break his concert – the audience. And reggae singer Warrior King is only too well aware of this. So much so that his manager, Mark Miller, the man who was also reggae icon Bob Marley's stage manager and ex-Wailers Band business manager, has had huge words of praise for Warrior King’s treatment of his audience.

Speaking about the just-concluded tour of Europe, Miller noted, “The reaction from the music fans to Warrior King has been absolutely phenomenal. Everywhere we performed on this run had people singing along with the Warrior King tracks, encouraging King in his performance, and letting us know how much they love their hero, Warrior King. His command of the stage and the audience is amazing. Not since I worked with Bob Marley have I seen an artiste who cares as much as King about his audience.”

However, as Warrior King pointed out, “it’s just a natural flow”. He added, “I have to let every person in that audience know how grateful I am that they chose to spend their hard-earned euro/dollar to pay for a ticket to see me perform. When you stand on stage and look out and see a sea of people, it  is a humbling experience. Not everybody out there came to see me, but they all bought a ticket to see an entertainer. They could have spent their money on something else. So I have to give thanks and give the best show that I can possible give every single time I hold a mic and jump on a stage.”

The tour, which kicked off on June 12, included stops in France. Austria, Germany and the UK and although all the dates went well, Warrior King and his team have extra special memories of the Rast’Art Festival in Normandy, France. “It was absolutely fantastic!” they all agree of the festival at which the ‘roots warrior’ was making his debut appearance.

“We send out our love and thanks to every single music fan in Europe and also people like Aurel and Chloe at Rast’
Art;  Maurits in Amsterdam; Bantam in Berlin; Kingsley in Hamburg and everyone else we can’t think of to name right now!” a very happy Warrior King said.

Meanwhile, the singer is reportedly working furiously on putting the finishing touches to his upcoming album, entitled Rootz Warrior. “Owing to the fact that so many people want to see him perform, we’ve had to take it a step at a time in between our touring activities. However, the album ‘soon come’ and will surprise many people,” declared Miller, who is also the author of the book "On the Road with Bob Marley".

Europe beckons Warrior King

Kingston, JAMAICA:- Feeling energized from his recent successful promotional tour of the US along with a gig in Mexico, the acknowledged ‘roots warrior’, Warrior King, is all packed and ready to hit the road again – this time to the continent of Europe.

The reggae artiste, whose newest singles, Aint Giving Up and Same Source from his soon-to-be-released album, Roots Warrior, are gaining traction both in Jamaica and on the international scene, is focused on building his brand and always upping the ante in terms of delivering conscious, thought-provoking songs and great performances. With his foundation-type reggae music finding its way straight into the hearts of music lovers globally, Warrior King is increasingly becoming a favourite in Europe and his tour, which kicks off on June 12, marks the second time the artiste will be performing there since 2015.

“I did a stint in Europe in February and it was everything I hoped for and more. The promoters did their job well and the venues were sold out. The fans showed so much love, it was really amazing. It’s really nice to feel appreciated, doing what you love to do and getting paid for it. Of course, touring is hard work; it’s not all about the glamour, but it’s music and we reggae artistes are passionate about our music. We are reggae ambassadors and pledge to bring the music to the four corners of the world, so the mission continues,” the Virtuous Woman singer stated.

Warrior King’s first show is Rast' Art Festival on June 12 in Normandy France. The following day, sees him performing at Studio Club in Cergy. On June 14, he travels to the Austrian capital, Vienna for a show at the Fania Live Club, while a mix of club and festival appearances in the UK will see him on the road until June 24.

Meanwhile, Warrior King is also putting the finishing touches to his upcoming album, Rootz Warrior, which is produced by Warrior King’s own Rootz Warrior Productions and Irie Sounds International. The singer recently packaged the video for the second single, Same Source and is eagerly anticipating its premiere.

Warrior King solidly connects with audiences on US promo tour

Rocking roots reggae artiste, Warrior King, possesses that distinctly authentic reggae sound and feel which ensure that he remains a crowd favourite, whether at home, in North America, Europe or the Caribbean.

Currently on an arduous six-week promotional tour of the US -- which sees him scheduled to perform at smaller, intimate venues as well as big-name festivals, while making time for video shoots and interviews with the press -- the musical ambassador is waving the flag high as he fills the venues with his presence and his wholesome messages of love, unity and diligence through song. Armed with two new tracks, Ain’t Giving Up, and Same Source, from his work-in-progress album, Rootz Warrior, the Virtuous Woman singer makes no secret of the fact that promotion is the name of the game.

“It is important for us as artistes to get directly involved in promoting our music. We need to always keep close to our fans and the media, because ultimately they are a vital part of the support structure that we depend on to successfully build our brand,” Warrior King said from his hotel in Nevada City, California, where he gave an awesome performance on April 20.

He and his management team have high hopes for this upcoming album and are very pleased with the response being generated so far, and point to the video for Ain’t Giving Up amassing close to 50,000 Youtube hits in a little over a month as an excellent indicator of the music gathering momentum. Ever conscious of the need to always give that little extra bit of himself, Warrior King has been wooing fans since the start of the tour, which kicked off on April 11 in San Diego, California. He has so far been enjoying close-to-capacity houses and reports from various news outlets have been favourable.

“All the shows so far have gone fabulous,” a member of the artiste’s management team stated, adding that in Santa Cruz the house was packed and Nevada City, California, there was very little standing room available.
“The audience, who all know King well, engaged in a sing-a-long with most of his tracks. The new Ain’t Giving Up surprised them, and enthralled them too. Same thing when King performed the new Same Source track,” he added.

Warrior King noted that he was also very happy at the feedback out of Jamaica where the single Ain’t Giving Up is in rotation and enjoying massive love, especially from radio.

“I am out here on the road trying to build on the foundation and the love that I am getting from home is keeping me warm. Thanks to all the disc jocks and everybody a yard,” he said, adding that he was eagerly anticipating his next show in Jamaica, which he promises will be “soon”.

Warrior King’s US promo tour continues with five confirmed dates for May, ending with the spectacular “Best of the Best” Festival at Bayfront Park, Miami Beach, Florida on the 24th, after which the artiste returns to Jamaica.

Warrior King ‘Aint Giving Up’; heads to US for promo tour

Kingston, JAMAICA: - Aint Giving Up, the title of Rastafarian singer Warrior King’s brand new single, is more than just a song name, it is a bold statement of empowerment which
reflects the artiste’s mission in life to purposefully continue doing Jah’s works.

The release of this single, with an accompanying music video directed by Benjamin Lidsky, has seen Warrior King swing into full promotion mode as reconnects with fans at home, in the Caribbean and around the world. Admitting that he has a busy schedule for the next couple of months, the reggae singer, who recently returned from Antigua, says that this is exactly what the doctor ordered.

His trip to Antigua two weekends ago saw him appear as the surprise guest artiste at an almost sold-out event staged at the Antigua Recreational Ground, with top reggae acts Tanya Stephens and Sizzla. The successful concert was promoted by King Warrior, a sound system whose name was inspired by Warrior King.

“It was the first show for King Warrior and the selectors, Shabba and Billy, are good friends of mine, so when they suggested the week before the show that I come and give the Antiguan people a surprise, I agreed instantly. I used this as an opportunity to promote my new single and it went down well. I did interviews on the main radio stations in Antigua and also did television,” explained a very satisfied Warrior King, whose last visit to that island was five years ago.

As for the live performance at the event, it was sensational. Coming on right after Tanya Stephens, who had the crowd in the palm of her hands, Warrior King, backed by Ruff Kut band, went straight into his mega hit, Virtuous Woman and it was instant pandemonium. He gave Antiguans a tight 15-minute set which also included Never Go Where Pagans Go, Can’t Get Me Down, Hold The Faith and a snippet of the new song, Aint Giving Up.

Aint Giving Up is the first track off the upcoming album, The Rootz Warrior, produced by Warrior King’S own Rootz Warrior Productions and Irie Sounds International.

Meanwhile, the artiste recently enjoyed a boost in popularity by the recent visit to Jamaica of US President Barack Obama, as fans who recalled that Obama had named Warrior King as one of the reggae artistes whose songs he enjoyed, reached out to him from all over the globe to find out if he was performing for the president. Mello FM’s Daybreak with Richie B played Virtuous Woman on Thursday morning as they did a salute to artistes who had impacted the White House during Obama’s presidency.

Warrior King left the island last Thursday for a six-week promotional tour of the United States.

Warrior King re-charting his journey

Kingston, JAMAICA: - For some of Warrior King’s fans, especially in Jamaica, their relationship with the artiste could very well be summed up as “out of sight, out of mind” and no-one is more aware of this than Warrior King himself.

However, the “Virtuous Woman” singer is committed to taking definitive steps to change all of that and re-connect in a huge way, starting with his most recent single Aint Giving Up. He ruefully admits to keeping a low profile in Jamaica for the last two and a half years, but hastens to add that he has not been idle; instead he has been travelling extensively overseas, building his brand on a global level and maintaining his expected high standards. Quite satisfied with that rhythm and flow, Warrior King is eyeing Jamaica and the Caribbean as his happy hunting ground for 2015.

“Jamaica is where it all started; it was the launch pad for the international circuit. From day one of my career, I have always thought global, but at the same time I can never forget where I am coming from. I have been doing a bit of touring and studio work and have been here in Jamaica a lot as well, but the truth is that if promoters in Jamaica don’t see your face or hear your voice via some kind of PR machinery, for example, then you don’t get called for a show. Like it or not that's just the way it is,” explained the entertainer who is managed by France-based Mark Miller, a former stage manager for Reggae King, Bob Marley and author of the book A White Knight in Babylon, On the Road with Bob Marley.

Admitting that he has gained a tremendous amount of knowledge from Miller in the last three years, a level-headed Warrior King had high praises for Miller’s professionalism, transparency and the respect from his peers on the world stage.  This partnership has seen Warrior King evolve and claim his space musically and otherwise, establishing his own Rootz Warrior Productions and securing fan bases in Europe, Asia, Australia and even the place considered the Holy Land, Jerusalem.

In fact, the singer, who is also working on an album, recently returned from a two-week tour which saw him performing in Belgium, Amsterdam, France and Jerusalem. Regarding the Jerusalem show, Warrior King said the reception was “overwhelming”. Warrior King not only gave a great performance alongside the city’s top sound system, Amar, he also took time to visit some of the world famous sites in the Holy Land.

“It was a different kind of journey because you know there is the spiritual connection between Rastas and King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba, who we hold as someone special. It was amazing to walk the same places as people who you only read about and visit the Ethiopian Orthodox Church there,” said the singer whose debut single, “Virtuous Woman,” was an instant hit, which built the foundation for the artiste’s reputation and established him on an international platform.

Since his auspicious beginning, Warrior King’s compositions have consistently charted not only in Jamaica, but throughout the entire Caribbean, New York, California, London, Tokyo, and beyond. The inclusion of “Never Go Where Pagans Go” on VP Records’ compilation set Reggae Gold further raised the artist’s public persona. Warrior King has so far released four internationally acclaimed albums, Virtuous Woman, Hold the Faith, Love is in the Air and Tell Me How Me Sound and is now working on a fifth.
