GUYANA PROVIDES THE BACKDTOP FOR KG'S LATEST VIDEO

The video for gospel singer KG's latest single, Ride Out The Storm was shot during a recent trip to Guyana. And although some may question her patriotism, KG quickly dismisses any suggestion that she is anything but totally Jamaican.
"Actually, it was Guyana who chose me and, naturally I jumped at the opportunity," she explained. "Furthermore," KG added, "as an artiste, I am developing my fan base and with the love that I was shown by the Guyanese people on my recent trip there,  I feel honoured to have shot a video there."
According to KG, it was during a conversation with some newfound friends in Guyana that the subject pf her video for the single came up and an offer was made for her to do the video shoot there and then. In no time, she and the video director, Colin S.Edghill Telford, linked uo with his team to put together the storyboard and from there everything just flowed.
"I could feel God's hand guiding this project. They chose the location, Promenade Gardens, a beautiful place that was perfect for the message of the song. It felt as if I had worked with this team before, despite the fact that we hardly knew each other," KG stated.
The storyboard for Ride Out The Storm relates the experiences of a couple facing difficult times in their relationship and the way in which God turns around things for them through their storms.
The video is in the last stages of editing and is due to have its premiere by the end of May.
KG's singles Ride Out The Storm, Highly Favoured and Blessed, God Alone. Lifting Up Praise, Lord Do Mi Again and the controversial Who Me, You Mad, have been generating much feedback from both the gospel and secular arenas.
Her debut album is almost completed and is due in stores by mid-year.

KG EAGER TO MAKE HER GUYANA DEBUT

Kingston, Jamaica - Gospel singer, Kereen Gregory, aka KG, is just about ready to exhale.

She confesses that she has been holding her breath, waiting for that call which would signal the official launch of her career internationally, and that moment has finally come.

The rising gospel artiste has been invited to perform in Guyana over the Easter, a period considered by Christians as the holiest of seasons. As Kereen explained, it's not that she has never performed overseas before, it's just that this time she is being recognised on her own merit. KG notes that she is therefore embracing the opportunity to step forward in her designated space and spread the message in song.

"To God be the glory," a bubbly KG said of the upcoming event. "Prior to now, I have gone abroad as a back-up singer, complementing a main gospel act. Don't get me wrong, I am truly grateful for the experiences and I have learnt so much while those journeys. However, there is a different feeling when a promoters asks for you, specifically. I feel like I am growing as an artiste and that the efforts of my team to put me out there are bearing fruit," KG said, with a huge smile.

Kereen, whose singles have been generating much feedback from both the gospel and secular arenas, is scheduled for back-to-back performacnes on the mainland territory of Guyana. The first concert takes place on April 8 at the Kwakwani venue. Entitled Rhema Praise, the concert will also feature a line-up of the best gospel acts in Guyana.

The following day, April 9, KG will again minister in song, this time in Guyana's capital city, the historic Georgetown. That event is billed as The Real Easter Praise and will be held at the Malteneous Sports Club.

Armed with songs such as Ride Out Your Storm, Highly Favoured and Blessed, God Alone. Lifting Up Praise, Lord Do Mi Again and the controversial Who Me, You Mad, KG is eagerly anticipating two glorious nights of praise and worship with fans in Guyana.

"Of course, all of this takes on an extra special meaning because it's happening during Easter and as Christians there is no better time to reflect and give praise to God. I just know that it will be awesome," KG said emotionally.

KG impresses at Kitson Town gospel concert

Kingston Jamaica - It's not easy for a relatively new artiste to stand out at a concert featuring gospel heavyweight such as Minister Carlene Davis, Goddy Goddy and Kingdom Soldiers, but rising gospel singer Kereen 'KG' Gregory did just that at a concert in Kitson Town recently.

The event was entitled Ash Wednesday Praise and proved to be a rousing praise and worship session in the parish of St Catherine. It was KG's very first time in Kitson Town and she kept her promise to make her performance memorable.

From the moment she hit the stage, KG connected with the audience and steadily built up a momentum with smart selections and verbal interactions with the crowd. Her naturally bubbly personality and her strong love for Christ shone brightly as she ministered in song. KG's 30 minutes seemed all too short and she surely left the crowd wanting more.

Among her selections were Ride Out Your Storm, Highly Favoured and Blessed, God Alone. Lifting Up Praise and Lord Do Mi Again. And the fans showed their appreciation, especially on numbers such as the dancehall gospel flavoured Lord Do Mi Again and Ride Out The Storm.

"I would rate this as one of my best performances ever," a tired but very upbeat KG declared after the show. "I could feel the energy from the crowd and the love was amazing. As to Sister Carlene (Davis), she was just awesome. I would really like to thank the organisers for giving me the opportunity to perform on this event and I look forward to next year's Ash Wednesday Praise," KG said with a big smile.

Then KG was off to sign more autographs and share in hugs from the children who just couldn't seem to get enough of this rising gospel artiste whose stagecraft and musical creativity have definitely improved since she made her official public outing four years ago as a finalist in the JCDC gospel competition.

In between performances, KG, who also sang at the launch of gospel radio station 91.7 FM in Mandeville on February 25, is busy putting the final touches on her soon-to-be-released debut album.

"As we get closer to completing the project, things just get more intense, but we know that God is the driver and all of our work is to give praise and glory to Him. I am working with a great team and I can't wait to share this album with the world," KG declared.

Kereen Gregory happy to share stage with Carlene Davis

KINGSTON, JAMAICA - Rising gospel act, Kereen Gregory, aka KG, is eagerly anticipating the opportunity to perform alongside one of her favourite female singers, Carlene Davis.

The two are among a set of gospel acts scheduled to thrill fans at a concert entitled Ash Wednesday Praise, scheduled for February 22 in Kitson Town, St Catherine.

KG, who declares that Carlene Davis has been an inspiration to her, also noted that she welcomed the opportunity to get up close with fans in that section of Jamaica.

"Minister Carlene Davis' story is such a wonderful one; how she moved from secular to gospel with such grace and I am particularly impressed with how Sister Carlene handled the testing of her faith in God when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She has always been one of my heroes and it is a joy to share stage with such a powerful woman of God," KG said emotionally.

She added that it would be her first time performing in Kitson Town and, as such, "it will definitely be a night to remember".

KG, whose star seems to be in the ascendancy, has been quite visible since the start of the year, doing radio, television and print interviews, and winning over fans as she prepares for the release of her debut album.

According to her management, Butterfly Muzik Limited, the album is set to hit the stores by Easter and, as a result the singer has been in the studio working closely with producers to put on the all-important final touches.

"We are at the stage now where we feel confident about the quality of the product. Kereen has been working with a talented crew of producers, engineers and other creative persons and the result is just fantastic. We know that it has been directed by God from start to finish," KG's sister and manager, Claudia Gregory-Watson stated.

A 2008 finalist in the JCDC Gospel Song Contest, KG has been creating deep ripples with her Radikal Yawd single called Who Me You Mad, a song that boldly compares a personal and intimate relationship with God to the closeness of a man-woman relationship. It is the first single off her upcoming album and was produced by gospel artiste Prodigal Son.

Among the other artistes on the gospel showcase are Goddy Goddy and Sister Pat.

KEREEN GREGORY UNLEASHES HER PASSION FOR GOSPEL

Creative, talented and inspiring are a few of the adjectives that readily comes to mind when describing Kereen Gregory, a gospel singer whose musical mission is centered on bringing souls to Christ.

From as early as she can recall, Kereen had a passion for singing and she knew that her footsteps would ultimately lead her to the international stage. But she also knew that the stage would not be a secular one, because from the outset, she had totally dedicated herself to the Lord.

Hailing from Central Village in the old capital, Spanish Town, Kereen grew up in the church, where her talent was recognized at an early age and she was given much encouragement from her church family, her parents and siblings. Her father, too, had been blessed with the gift of song and it was often felt that Kereen would be the one to take over from him and fly the musical banner high for her family.

With this background it was inevitable that young Kereen, who now uses the moniker KG, would eagerly embrace every opportunity to let her voice be heard. Kereen had a special talent for turning even the most mundane sentence into a song and somehow, that song would end up being quite infectious. During her teens, she became involved in singing groups and while attending Tarrant High, Kereen was quite a popular choice to sing at school functions.

In 2008, Kereen, with much encouragement from family and friends, made a dramatic step from the church pew onto the stage of the highly competitive JCDC Gospel Song Contest, as a solo act. As expected, this vocal powerhouse proved a strong contender and her song, God Is, exposed her to a much wider audience who started to take keen interest in this compelling gospel singer.

Although KG did not win the competition, this signaled the start of her music ministry on the world stage. The doors were flung wide open and soon KG was travelling overseas for shows, and was also featured on major gospel events in Jamaica, including Fun in the Son, Heal the Nation, Freedom Fest and events for evangelist Jim Whittingham. She has also performed back-up duties for international gospel artiste, Carlene Davis.
Currently under the management of Butterfly Muzik Limited, KG is preparing for yet another milestone event in her gospel career – the launch of her debut album in the first half of 2012. For this offering, she has worked with producers Gifton Smith, Alex Blanken and Radikal Yaad.

The talented singer/song-writer has also formed an alliance with dancehall’s favourite gospel singer, Prodigal Son, for whose Radikal Yaad label, she has done two out-of-the-box singles. With these songs, Lord Do Me Again and Who Me U Mad Kereen stepped out of her usual comfort zone of traditional gospel songs and entered the realm of dancehall gospel, with much success and a bit of controversy.

That situation, however, has only served to spike the popularity of this gospel singer who names Shirley Caesar, Carlene Davis and Chevelle Franklyn as her favourite artistes.
“Whatever the genre – traditional gospel, gospel reggae or dancehall gospel – it’s all about giving praise to the Lord,” a confident Kereen declares.
With her immense talent, charming persona and God by her side, the sky’s the limit for Kereen ‘KG’ Gregory.
