Spice Brings Bedroom Excitement To Sumfest Stage Last Night

MONTEGO, JAMAICA - With dancehall artiste Spice being among the few female acts on the Reggae Sumfest line-up for Dancehall night, the queen of the stage did not disappoint, as her performance earned her a place among the event's top performers last night.

Spice transformed the stage into her bedroom, literally. Known for her usual stand out entrances, Spice made her way to the stage on a bed accompanied by her dancers, all clad in robes.

The entertainer emerged from her bed and went straight into a rendition of her song, Sheet. Calling for a man to join here on stage, Spice engaged the audience from start to finish and earned one of the biggest forwards of the night for her efforts.

Spice, decked out in a body fitting-gold suit beneath the robe, delivered songs such as Indicator and So Me Like It.

Spice lands first corporate deal

KINGSTON, JAMAICA: Dancehall artiste Spice has secured her first major partnership with a corporate company.

The hard-core female entertainer signed a deal with Sperone Moscato Jamaica, and is now the company's newest ambassador. The line of Italian Sparkling Moscatos is distributed by Select Brands Limited, one of the largest distributors of wines and spirits in Jamaica.

Spice told THE WEEKEND STAR that she was overwhelmed at the opportunity, but was hesitant at first because she wasn't sure if her image and the corporate world would work well.

"Sperone's marketing manager reached out to my business partner, Romeich, to contact me with the proposal," she explained. "When Romeich contacted me, the first thing I said was that I wouldn't be able to do it because most corporate companies probably want me to adjust and tone down who I am, including my wild stage performances."

To her surprise, the deal did not require her to make any adjustments to her raunchy dancehall image.

"When I was told that they know what I'm about and they want me to represent their product regardless, I was so excited and overwhelmed. I realise now how much the brand loves and supports dancehall, and I will encourage every single person to support them," she said.

PROMOTE THE PRODUCT

The new deal will see Spice appearing on Billboards and in advertisements as the new face of the product. As an ambassador, she is expected to promote the product, something she says will be easy.

"It's the only thing I drink since lately. I will use my huge fan base to showcase the product across the island. A di hottest bottle a wine in the streets right now anyway. It's a product that is loved, so this will be easy," Spice said.

The entertainer has been enjoying media attention and much success in recent times, especially following her appearance on the VH1 hit TV series Love and Hip Hop.

Spice to headline Floats Foam Party in MoBay

MONTEGO BAY, JAMAICA: High-riding female dancehall artiste Grace Hamilton, better

known as Spice, is set to “spice” things up at the Floats Foam Party at Vista Ambassador on the Hip Strip (Gloucester Ave) in Montego Bay on February 19.

The event, which is being billed as the ‘Ultimate Day Rave’, also features Montego Bay-based fast-rising dancehall artiste Tee Jay.

Spice, known for her provocative and energetic stage routines, is expected to deliver no less for the much-anticipated event.

The self-proclaimed ‘Stage Show Boss’ has been enjoying a wave of success with songs such as A So Me Like It, Indicator and her latest single Sheet. She has also been touring extensively, especially in Europe, due mainly to the strength of her singles and stagecraft.

“We are creating a new party series that will focus on patron experience,” Ricardo Downer, event organiser, told the Jamaica Observer West.

“This is the first instalment of Floats and we are looking to do it even better for this coming summer. We will have attractions such as the pool floats, foam pit and a VIP area, which will have drink and food inclusive. We are creating an experience for patrons to leave with the best feeling. We want it to be on the lips of everyone,” said Downer.

Popular Montego Bay DJs Kentucky, Cray Neil, Jigga and Dexta Peppa have been charged with musical juggling for the event, and they are expected to deliver top-notch stints

Spice fires shots at Alkaline

Following the release of 'Prison Warder' in which insults are levelled at Spice and Vybz Kartel, the 'Stage Show Boss' has released a scathing diss track, Who Sing It, that is aimed at Alkaline and his Vendetta supporters.

Prison Warder racked up thousands of views online, however many listeners are uncertain about who recorded the song since its upload link carried no name tags except a note that the lyrical sentiments represented Alkaline's Vendetta supporters, and was aimed at Spice and Kartel.

Spice, who was close to Alkaline during his early musical years, held back no punches in her response. She also took the opportunity to reaffirm her loyalty to Vybz Kartel, and trash Alkaline for his sexual practices.

In an interview with THE STAR, Spice said she was unsure if Alkaline or his alleged affiliate Fabian dissed her in the Prison Warder record. However, she insists she is prepared to challenge any artiste representing Vendetta.

"I was left with no choice but to answer the song because everybody a call me from all parts of the world say Alkaline disrespect me inna song. When I listen the track I hear alkaline voice, but I hear some people saying it's not alkaline, it's Fabian," she said.

"I'm friends with Frass who works closely with Alkaline, and not even him link me and say it's not Alkaline. When I pree Fabian Instagram page, it clearly says Vendetta, so I just start pree say dem probably a work together that's why I do the song towards who sing the song cause none a dem nah come out and say a who sing it."

A confident Spice also noted that she will not be intimidated by male deejays.

"Not because I'm a woman means I must sit and make anyone walk over me or sit and take a diss like that. Mi nuh want dem feel like because mi a sing some nice wine up song dem forget say a me a the clash mumma weh use to kill people a Sting. A so mi mek mi name. Mi counteract the song weh name Prison Warder. So, whoever sing it, a dem mi a talk," she said.

Recording artiste Fabian Vendetta, who is rumoured to have recorded the song mimicking Alkaline's voice, did not confirm his role in the controversy. He, however, revealed that he was receiving threats from persons who took the lyrics in Prison Warder as an offence since it targeted Spice and Vybz Kartel.

Spice, on the other hand, is adamant that either Alkaline or Fabian should be brave and own the diss record.

"People love my song bad, and claiming mi deal wid it better than the man dem weh a war. I know my strength as a warrior so that's why I don't like when people call up mi name and try fi draw me out. Mi just prefer gwaan sing some nice happy song fi the gal dem. So, mi a call out Alkaline or Fabian to own up the song," she said.

Spice shocked by Israel’s love for dancehall

Spice performed in Israel for the first time and stated that dancehall is very much alive in the Middle Eastern country.

Spice said Israel, known as the Holy Land by many, is very much into dancehall culture.

Seemingly surprised, Spice told THE WEEKEND STAR that, based on her knowledge of the Bible teachings about Israel, she decided to wear clothing which covered her body. However her Israeli fans came out dressed for dancehall.

"I was a bit uncertain as to what type of songs to sing and how to deliver them, whether clean of raw. I was scared because I didn't know how they would react to lewd lyrics.

"I must say, it was an eye opener and I got a brain freeze. The people over there are not what I expected, they know the songs word for word. They sang them with me, raw version too. I went there all covered, up thinking that this was Israel, the holy place, but the women were out there in short shorts, you name it, and acted like a regular New York City crowd or Jamaican crowd," she said.

Based on her experience, the deejay believes globalisation is now in full effect more than ever. She also believes dancehall deserves more props, locally, since the genre is so well received overseas.

"The Internet world changes everything. They are doing the Jamaican dance moves and they know everything. They know what is going on, and it was an awesome experience and I felt like I was performing for any regular crowd.

I think dancehall culture is doing well and people who think dancehall is not doing well are not watching the genre properly.

"For me, going to Israel is a plus because people don't think that dancehall is big in those parts of the world," she said.

Spice, who sits atop the food chain as a female dancehall act, also performed at four sold-out events in the UK. The deejay also took her Team Spice dancers along for the ride.

Kalado and Spice’s summer tour of Europe cancelled

Kingston, Jamaica:- Dynamic dancehall artistes, Kalado and Spice are as disappointed

as their fans that, owing to a lack of professionalism on the part of the organisers, their highly anticipated, joint summer tour of Europe has been cancelled.  The two entertainers should have left Jamaica this week to kick off what was scheduled to be a month-long European tour starting on August 7^th and ending on August 30^th.  Both artistes were looking forward to touring together for the first time, in addition to which, this would have been Kalado’s first European tour.

The respective management teams for the artistes have disclosed that a lack of dutiful preparation from Kayamoves, the highly recommended, Europe-based agency which was handling all the details of the proposed tour, led to an unfortunate breakdown in communications. After experiencing many challenges during the four-month preparation time for the tour and receiving vital information from Kayamoves in an ad hoc manner, things finally fell apart.

“We were informed less than two weeks prior to the beginning of the tour that the itinerary was not complete, after several attempts weeks prior to that requesting the touring schedule and information. The proposed tour was in the works for almost four months and up to this day we have not received a final itinerary to approve from the Agency,” the management teams said in a joint statement.

Kalado and his management team have stated that they have no option but to distance themselves from Kayamoves and is informing the public that they have no agreement with Kayamoves and the agency is not authorized to book any shows for Kalado. Kalado and Spice have expressed their apologies to their fans and note that they regret being denied the opportunity to showcase their summer catalogue and perform their several hit songs live and direct in front of a welcoming European crowd.

However, they will be working on some future dates together as they bring their talent and their catalogue to centrestage. Both artistes are hot on the scene, with Kalado presently #1 on the Richie B Jamaica Countdown Charts with Personally and Spice continues her dominance with hot remixes and new songs Like a Man which she performed to an enthusiastic crowd at Reggae Sumfest.

Spice To Release Hot Videos For "Dun Wife" and "Twerk"

Kingston Jamaica - Dancehall artiste, Spice, has released two new singles, "Twerk" and "Dun Wife" for which videos were shot and will be released in a few days.

"Dun Wife" which is reminiscent of early 90s dancehall has already become a fan-favourite and Spice says the video will feature a number of surprises for fans. "I definitely can't let everything out the box yet but people will be in for a treat with this video."

In addition, "Twerk", which features a faster tempo has female fans everywhere energetically 'twerking' to the beat. The video for "Twerk" which was recorded last week, will be both colorful and entertaining, says Spice.

"The video will showcase the twerking technique for those fans who are not sure how to do it as yet. Apart from that it's going to be a very sexy but fun, dancing video. So fans can look out for that in a few days," she says.

Immediately after releasing both videos, Spice will leave the island for shows in England.
