I-Octane delivered a solid performance at Life Fest

I-Octane was in fine form at Life Fest which was held at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Complex last Saturday.
The singjay connected instantly with the large crowd that turned out to support the cause.
He quickly launched into Mama You Alone dedicating it to Sharon Gapoor, the mother of Carlyle.
Then it was on to hard hitting singles such as Stab Vampire, My Life and Lose A Friend. When Octane struck the first notes of Lose a Friend there was a deafening roar in the venue forcing the singjay to “wheel and come again”.
When I-Octane made his exit it was to a totally satisfied crowd.
LifeFest was not all about I-Octane as the Marleys - Stephen and Damian gave a performance worthy of their rich heritage.
Capleton gave a highly charged performance as did the fire mumma Queen Ifrica who had many scampering closer to the stage.
Big Ship artistes represented to the fullest with artistes Chino, Laden and stephen Di Genius, but it was Chino who earned the loudest cheers with crowd favourites From Mawing and Pon Yuh Head.
Spragga Benz held his own with the songs Peace and Wi Nuh Like.
Richie Spice could do no wrong with Ghetto Girl and Brown Skin.
International acts on the stage Jazmine Sullivan and Alison Hinds represented well.
All in all LifeFest turned out to be a really great experience one can only wonder what next year will entail.

Ikaya is ready for the Bad Gal tour

Last Saturday, fast rising artiste Ikaya missed her chance to perform in Trinidad due to the election taking place there, but come Saturday she will definitely be in action in Negril on the Bad Gal Tour.
Ikaya is all geared up and looking forward to sharing the stage with fellow ‘bad gal’ tour members Pamputtae, Lisa Hyper, Spice and other hot females acts.
“It’s gonna be mad, this is one show you can’t afford to miss. We will be going all out to give our fans a good show,” she promised.
Following her performance in Negril, Ikaya will be moving on with the team to Port Antonia.
“We will be doing a few more dates in Jamaica then the tour will move on to the overseas leg,” Ikaya said.
In between tour dates the female artiste is busy in the studio working on new materials to unleash on the dancehall scene.
“All I can say is that you should all listen out, I am working on some real hot stuff...I’m not saying much at this point, just wait, the real proof will be in the final product,” Ikaya said refusing to give away much regarding her upcoming releases.
Ikaya is currently enjoying good rotation with her latest singles Money Ova Man and Recession.

JACKO'S FORMER LAWYER SHOT DEAD

Michael Jackson's former lawyer has been found shot dead.
Peter Lopez, who was married to Dukes Of Hazzard actress, Catherine Bach, reportedly committed suicide at the couple's home in California on Friday, April 30.
A neighbour heard the shot, and Peter, 60, was found by someone who was at the house.
A spokesperson for Catherine Bach, (who played the character of Daisy Duke in the TV series), and the couple's two daughters, Sophia and Laura said: "The Lopez Family has suffered a tragic personal loss. Catherine and the girls ask for your prayers."
Lopez had been the late 'King of Pop' Michael's lawyer since 2006 when he was appointed by the singer's former general manager, Raymone Bain, to reorganise his business affairs.
Shocking news
Raymone said: "I'd known Peter for 20 years, I can't think of a nicer individual. He was a good guy. I'm just so shocked."
Lopez also represented artistes including The Eagles, Andrea Bocelli and Michael Buble.
The law firm where Lopez was a co-founder, Kleinberg Lopez Lange Cuddy and Klein also spoke of their shock.
A statement from the firm said: "We are deeply shocked and saddened by the unexpected loss of our friend and partner."

Government of Jamaica Investigating Ban On Dancehall Artistes by CARICOM Countries

The recent case of Vybz Kartel being banned from St. Lucia is now under investigation by the Jamaican government.
According to Wilton Dyer the ban that was imposed by the St. Lucian authorities might be a breach of the CARICOM free movement which applies to artistes, musicians and sports persons.
Several industry insiders believe its time for Jamaican artistes and musicians to unite and fight these ridiculous bans that are coming one behind the other.
The latest Caribbean country to reject Jamaican dancehall artistes from performing in their country is Trinidad & Tobago.

THE CHART FAVORS VYBZ KARTEL THIS WEEK AS SLOW MOTION IS THE NEW #1SINGLE.

The chart favors Vybz Kartel this week as Slow Motion is the new #1single.
Mavado’s Gal Ova Gun reign has ended after four weeks on top it now sits in the #2 position. While his other track Come In To My Roomfeaturing Stacious has now copped the Shot To Watch title in the #3spot.
Beenie Man with Mi Woman A Call Mi steps in the #4 position.
As for Junior X his Gangster Life leaps in the top five and positions at#5.
Whereas Vybz Kartel featuring Popcaan and Slim is having a great time on the chart this week as Clarks grips the Greatest Gainer title to jump four places in at #14.

I-OCTANE GEARS UP FOR JAMAICA INVITATIONAL AND LIFE FEST THIS SATURDAY

Coming fresh from a crowd-pleasing performance at Westmoreland Curry Festival held last Sunday, I-Octane is now looking forward to performing at the Jamaica International Invitational Meet which takes place on Saturday May 1st, 2010 at the National Stadium.
“I am looking forward to performing at the meet as I am expecting the energy there to be something else,” the singjay commented about his upcoming performance. According to I-Octane it will be a thrill sharing in the moment as Jamaican athletes shine on the field. Other artistes set to perform at the meet are Konshen, Chino, Freddie McGregor, Alison Hinds and Laden.
Later on in the night the I-Octane will be heading for the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre where he will be one of the headline performers on Life Fest along with Stephen Marley, Damian, Jazmine Sullivan and Queen Ifrica.
“It’s a really beautiful thing that Spragga is doing in honouring in ensuring that deserving students receive a boost in their quest for a good education. I totally endorse it and that’s why I will be giving a special performance on Saturday,” the singjay promised.
In the meantime I-Octane is enjoying a buzz on the scene with the single Think A Little Time. The video is
making head way on all local video charts and his other single Lose A Friend is standing firm on the singles chart Hype TV Top 20, RETV, Stampede and and Richie B’s Jamaica Weekly Countdown Chart.


YANKEE B GETS READY TO LAUNCH NEW CD


Yankee B: He’s Coming Back is the title of the soon-to-be-released compilation disc (CD) from New York-based artiste, Joseph Christlike Souljah, aka Yankee B.
“A lot of careful planning went into the production of this CD,” the artiste explained. “It is music to enrich the soul and is defintely rated ‘E’ for everyone,” he added.
This gospel enriched offering includes collaborations with secular artiste-turned-gospel-acts Papa San and Shelly Thunder, with whom Yankee B can relate, as he too made that life-changing transformation to become a Christlike Souljah. There is also a collabo with Sweet Roze.
The launch of Yankee B: He’s Coming Back is set for May 29 in Jamaica, New York and is free to the public. There will be performances from Hopeton Lewis, Shelly Thunder, Lynette Whyte, Sweet Roze, among others
Joseph ‘Yankee B’ Hannam, who was born in Waterhouse community in Kingston, Jamaica, migrated to the US at the age of 12. He started his musical career singing at schools and day-jam parties in addition to displaying his talents on sound systems and dub plates all over New York. This big buzz he created for himself got him discovered by Hot 97 hosts, Bobby Konders and he has not looked back since.
