Top acts to perform at EME awards this Thursday
Come Thursday, February 5, members of the entertainment fraternity will again converge on the Gardens of the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel for the 2009 renewal of the Excellence in Music and Entertainment (EME) Awards.
The event, which is now in its fifth year, has now been dubbed “the red carpet gala event of the entertainment calendar”.
On Thursday February 5th it all unfolds with top artistes in reggae and dancehall slated to perform. Among those acts confirmed for the stellar event are Freddie McGregor, Tarrus Riley, Etana, Albarosie, LUST, Spice, Vybz Kartel, Elephant Man, Flippa Mafia, D’Angel, Konshens, Noddy Virtue and Jodi-Ann Pantry, Goddy Goddy, Romain Virgo, Bar-Bee and Danglin, all backed by the In2nation band.
As far as preparations go CEO of the awards, Richard ‘Richie B’ Burgess assured that everything is under control and going smoothly. Burgess added that this year, the public will for the first time be allowed to influence winners as votes via the Internet — through the newly constructed website www.emeawards.com

Since its inception five years ago, the EMEs has grown into one of the premier events on the Jamaican entertainment calendar. In addition to the nominees, a host of entertainment luminaries are expected to share in the red carpet gathering.
