Mr. Vegas 'blesses' Mobay with an Independence Day gift
• VEGAS SHINES IN MOBAY
Montego Bay is still buzzing from the incredible performance that the I Am Blessed artiste delivered at the UDC Old Hospital site on Independence Day August 6th 2009.
Mr. Vegas hit the stage at about 12:30 a.m. with his backing band, Thugz, and got an immediate ovation from the crowd with his number one hit, Taxi Fare. He then segued into the unapologetic Sucky Ducky, and another cheer went up from the crowd. He paused to speak to the audience a bit before doing Hands Up and the venue literally rocked as did Nike Air and Heads High back to back, the crowd cheering him on he turned up the tempo.
After revving up the audience to a high, Mr. Vegas changed pace and showed his versatility with the one-drop hit, Do You Know, which had lighters flickering quietly as he mesmerized them with his ice cube clear vocals.
Mr. Vegas then pumped up the adrenaline level in the venue with his dance segment, featuring some of the biggest dances to have emerged in dancehall in the past three years. Joined by his two female dancers, he immediately went into Tek Weh Yuself, and then Raging Bull. He then
dropped his loner’s anthem, Mi NuhWaan No Friend from Dem with the crowd cheering his every move, before he closed strongly with his monster number one hit, I Am Blessed.
He then exited to loud roars from the large crowd, but they demanded that he return for an encore performance. Mr. Vegas obliged and sparkled with his new radio hit, Up Deh.
Before Mr. Vegas performed, a slew of young artistes entertained the large crowd. However, the crowd was disappointed that reggae singer Etana was a no-show at the event. They left the venue grateful that Mr. Vegas had kept his promise and given them an Independence Day gift they will not soon forget.
The I Am Blessed artiste will be heading to North America for three shows on consecutive nights. On August 12th, he will be performing at The Roxy in Boston, the following day he will be at the Puffer Bellie in Hyannis, Boston, and on August 14th, he will perform at a show dubbed Mr. Vegas Jouvert Jump Off at the Blakelys Club in Chesapeake, Virginia where he will usher in the Jouvert morning with his mad dances,
After that, the artiste gets a much deserved break before his next gig at the National Stadium in Guyana on August 28th. “I am truly blessed to be able to perform for my fans all over the world,” he said.
